Extra Credit Event (Marta Dalton)
On March 21st, I went to an event that was focusing on Coca Cola and the
speaker was Marta Dalton. This even was held by the business
department and Marta Dalton was speaking about her experience at Coca
Cola and what she does. I could not stay at the event for a long time, but she actually talked to my Information Systems
class earlier that day. It was very interesting to see what she had to say about her experience with Coca Cola. She gave a lot of background knowledge on what she does and she
went into detail about her part of the company. The power point she had
up showed us the importance of analytics and how Coca Cola uses them.
She gave insight on why it is important to find a relationship with the
customers and see what they like and do not like. Also, I appreciated
her sharing her real experiences of what it is like to travel all the
time. She said that she travels over 50 percent of the time and goes
all across the country finding different ways to improve the products. We learned about B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to customer) interactions and internal and external digital marketing. It was new for the whole entire class so the material she was presenting was very informative.
Having Marta Dalton come was nice because it was interesting to see
inside the company and see how the whole business is set up.
Extra Credit Event
On Thursday March 3, I attended the Project Management Networking Mixer
in Buhl Hall at Chatham University. This event had professionals from
Westinghouse, BNY Mellon, Management Science Associates and more.
It was interesting to go to the mixer because it was just a way to get
your name out there and talk to professionals actually in the job.
These professionals were full of information and resources that would help in the real world. The theme of the mixer was project management so when we
were talking to people, they explain the process of being a project
manager. Project managers have to plan, organize, and process project
objectives. They have to have leadership skills and knowledge about
the company. The job of a project manager is not easy because they are the ones in charge of organizing the whole project. If something gets messed up, the project manager has to be ready to handle it and come up with a different solution. I enjoyed getting to interact with the project managers and hearing about how they have faced challenges and overcame obstacles. It was a really nice event.
